About RDD

The Redding Municipal Airport was built in 1942 by the U.S. Army. Its original name was the Shasta-Redding Airfield and was deeded by the U.S. government to the City of Redding in 1947. The Redding Airport now provides daily commercial passenger flights by SkyWest Airlines (dba, United Express), along with air cargo freight operations by Federal Express and United Parcel Service. Additional services of the airport include permanent aircraft storage and full service fixed base operators that provide fuel, aircraft rental, transient aircraft parking, aircraft maintenance, avionics, charters and flight instruction and a contact air traffic control tower. Other amenities include car rentals by Avis, Budget and Enterprise; Peter Chu’s Skyroom restaurant located on the second floor of the terminal; overnight and long-term vehicle parking in the paid parking facility; lighting advertising by Cornucopia Enterprises in the terminal; a National Hotrod Association sanctioned drag strip operated by the Northern California Drag Racing Association and a kart track operated by the Shasta Kart Klub.

Redding Municipal Airport is home of the United States Forest Service and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal-Fire) air attack base, the Civil Air Patrol, PHI Air Medical, Reach Air Medical Services and numerous corporate aircraft hangars owned by Sierra Pacific, Tullis Inc., AB Enterprises and Baker-Barr Aviation. IASCO is based on the Redding Airport and contracts with Chinese airlines to provide flight training to approximately 130 students with a fleet of 36 aircraft.
