About MRY

The Monterey Peninsula Airport District was created on March 31, 1941. Over the 75 year history, the airport has served as the welcome mat to visitors of the Central Coast, movie stars and dignitaries such as Pope John Paul II, Bobby Kennedy, Eleanor Roosevelt and many more. Over the years, airlines and routes have come and gone but the one thing that remains the same is MRY offers convenient service to hub airports which can take you anywhere in the world. From an economic standpoint, it pumps an estimated $302.4 Million annually into the region’s economy and creates support for 2,411 jobs. In 2015, over 362,000 passengers traveled through MRY. MRY has two parallel runways, a Federal Air Traffic Control Tower and a precision instrument approach to runway 28L and 10R. The Monterey Airport has based aircraft, 211 hangars and tiedowns, and 55 business tenants. The primary instrument runway (IFR) is 7,616 in length. The smaller general aviation runway is 3,500 in length.
